How to Beat the FLU and COLD with NAC part II

How to Beat the FLU and COLD with NAC part II

What really helped me and my friends with the Flu is NAC.  It not only helps with symptoms of the flu but boost your immune system so you can fight more effectively and recover quicker.  I use it for prevention and treatment.

Speak to your doctor before taking any supplements. This post is for entertainment purposes only.  It’s what I do and it’s not a paid product promotion.

I started this blog post in M3DFilm.com initially. NAC Part I.  I wanted to make it more complete here on this blog and fill in some blanks. I think some health advice fails because they don’t give you the completely picture; what the person was doing in addition to taking the supplement.

This episode I really drill down on the details.

When you travel, a lot like us.  Exposed to a lot a sick people specially in the winter.  People coughing on the plane.  People sick in offices.  What is one to do to stay health in the winter?

Previously, I would get sick every winter if a person coughed near me.  I would eat vitamin C, use Purell sanitizer.  Well the thing is most sanitizer don’t kill viruses which cause the cold or flu.  So really, it’s just a waste of time.  This subject really connects with me; so, I really like to help people who suffer with the flu or colds constantly in the winter.

The number one supplement to keep the FLU and Colds at bay has been NAC

NAC

I use 600mg pills.  You can get the pill from whole foods, amazon or any health food store. This wonder supplement just strengthens the immune system against cold and flu virus.  I take one a day to prevent colds and flu.  I really like the NOW NAC brand, just personal preference. If someone is sick near me; I’ll take 3 a day.  Obviously speak to a doctor before taking any supplements.  Here are the details below if you’re a science geek like me:

Day 1 Onset

Recently I started getting sick one day; working too late at work.  I started taking a total of 4 that day.  (2 pills am, 2 pills).

Day 2 Sick

When I woke up the next day I felt sick.  Runny nose, muscle aches.   After breakfast, I took 2 pills in the am, started with a clean breakfast:  just eggs in the am with some salt and water).  I forced myself to get a lot sleep and hydrate.  Dinner time, I cooked some chicken breast friend in olive oil, steamed or fried broccoli and asparagus.   I took 2 more pills at night.

Day 3 80% Better

I felt a lot better.  I took it easy that day…no more runny nose.  No more aches in pains.  However, I still felt a little a week. I still took that 4 d pills that day.  Clean diet again.  Just take it easy and get to bed early.   I still drank an iced mocha, 1 pump of mocha at Starbucks.  Sometimes we can’t help cheat.  Just keep the carbs down, eat one bagel, with a little butter.  Staying away from sugary foods when you’re sick definitely helps.  Whats really important is rest, rest, rest... slow yourself down.

Day 4 95% Healed

Pretty much healed still taking the supplement.  I still taking it easy.  In general, I’ll relax for 3 days after being sick. no gym. no running.  Just to make sure you don’t get the flu or cold back.

Other supplements I took:

Vitamin D 5000 IU2 a week.
